Honk for love

Here’s a really lovely thing to do before you eat with your family or friends. It would also work really well before a team game or a performance or things like that. It will unify you, focus you, help get rid of nerves and, if you’re doing it with the right people, leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy ie loved.  It’s very good for your digestion too if you do it just before eating.

The instructions are simple – Get in a circle, hold hands, take a deep breath then honk long and slow. Anyone starts at any pitch, and everyone else just adds to it.

Allow the sound to come out naturally on your breath, enjoy the sound of your voice and imagine that the whole world honks with you in peace, harmony and love. Relax in that experience, merge with the honk and be at one with the sound.

You can do just one honk and end your honk with a hard K sound just for fun, or you can keep honking, so that when each person finishes a honk they start another one and you just keep going until one after another you stop when you’ve had enough.

Being in a circle is a powerful unifier, holding hands makes it more friendly and honking  opens up your inner channels and helps the love to flow. Add the fun factor and you’ve got a great way to nurture each other and share your love. I admit that this might sound a bit crazy (are you kidding!), but our family and other members of the Honk Club do it and we’ve experienced the benefits, so I’m not just honking through a hole in my head.

I did it with a bunch of year 10 students at school on Friday. They loved it. ( We didn’t hold hands though.)

Do you have anyone that you could convince to try a group honk? Would you try it with your family? Have you tried it? How did it feel?
