What is a honk?
A honk is a sound. It’s also a word when you write it down, and as a word, it has a sound and a meaning. In this case, its meaning is its sound. That makes it an onomatopoeia, which is a word that sounds like what it means.
Why honk?
Honking can help you be happy, because a honk is a relaxing vowel to sing, one that encourages openness and warm heartedness, reminds you to keep a sense of humour, and helps you get rid of negative thoughts and emotions. It can even be a way to meditate.
How to honk
Take a deep breath, then sing ‘honk’, like an OM, long and slow, at any pitch.
Allow the sound to come out naturally on your breath, enjoy the sound of your voice and imagine that the whole world honks with you in peace, harmony and love. Relax in that experience, merge with the honk and be at one with the sound. Let your mind soar and enjoy.
You can let the honk fade out at the end, or end your honk with a hard K sound, just for fun,
For a group honk. Anyone starts at any pitch, and everyone else just adds to it.
You can do just one honk or you can keep honking, so that when each person finishes a honk they start another one and you just keep going until one after another you stop when you’ve had enough.

Silent honking.
A silent honk is a honk without sound. One way to do it is to think the honk sound in your mind. The other way is to consider that your
out-breath is the honk. Does that mean that you’re actually silent honking all the time? Only if you know you are.
Let’s consider the second option. Listen to your out-breath, feel it in your chest and breathe out your concerns along with the breath. Keep half your mind focused on that breath, and leave the other half-open and relaxed. Spacious. You can do it once every now and then or keep doing it with every breath for a while. Eventually the sense of you focusing on the breath will fade away and you’ll find yourself in a relaxed open state. That’s the Ultimate Honk.
Great, now you’re honking and no one knows. But, you might ask, why bother honking? Because holding your awareness like this will make you happier.
